High School Job, Big Dreams: Alex Mahoney’s Culver’s Story

When Alex Mahoney first put on her True Blue uniform as a 15-year-old, she thought she was just starting a typical high school job. Little did she know, that first shift would be the beginning of an incredible journey—one that would lead her to become one of the youngest Culver’s franchise owners.

Growing up in a small town where “everyone knows everyone,” Alex’s journey began like many others—learning the ropes, working hard, and proudly serving guests with a smile. But even early on, Alex stood out. Her commitment, leadership, and passion for the brand quickly earned her a promotion to manager not long after graduation.

But Alex’s goals were always bigger. From the start, she had a vision: to one day see her name on the front of her very own restaurant. For her, it wasn’t just about the job—it was about building something lasting, something personal. She dreamed of the day when guests would walk through the doors and see the words: “Locally Owned and Operated by Alex Mahoney.”

That dream may have seemed far-off to others, but Alex was determined. And she wasn’t alone. One day, during her time as a manager, her general manager pulled her aside and said something she’d never forget: “You’ve got what it takes. You have the personality, the drive—go for it. I know you’re meant to own your own restaurant someday.”

That encouragement stuck with her, fueling her ambition through every challenge. Although she originally pursued a degree in education, her heart kept pulling her back to Culver’s. Eventually, she made the bold decision to switch paths and follow her passion for business management.

And it paid off.

In 2021, Alex reached the milestone she had been working toward for over a decade—the word “Owner” was finally printed on her nametag. It was a full-circle moment that not only marked a personal achievement, but also symbolized the power of hard work, perseverance, and belief in yourself.

Now, at just 28 years old, Alex owns two thriving Culver’s restaurants in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, where she continues to make a meaningful impact on the community she loves. Her restaurants don’t just serve ButterBurgers and frozen custard—they create opportunities, foster growth, and build lasting relationships.

For Alex, the most rewarding part of ownership is being a role model. She remembers every mentor who guided her along the way, and now, she’s passionate about being that same guiding light for her team. She invests in their growth, cheers on their dreams, and shows them—by example—that anything is possible with hard work and heart.

Her advice to future Culver’s owners?
“Go after it. It’s a lot of hard work to get where you want to be, but if you keep pushing forward, you’ll get there. Just keep going, and one day, you’ll make it.”

From a small-town teen to a two-store owner, Alex Mahoney is living proof that big dreams really can come true—especially when you’re wearing True Blue.
