About Our Partnership

The story of S&L Companies begins in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, where brothers Jeff Liegel and Chad Stevenson attended high school and first started working at Culver’s in 1991. Working their way through nearly every position in the restaurant gave them a strong foundation in hospitality and guest service.
 
In 1994, with the support of their family, they became franchise owners with the opening of the Culver’s of Portage, Wisconsin. That first restaurant marked the beginning of steady, intentional growth built one location at a time.
 
They went on to open the Culver’s of Columbus in 2002 and later returned to where it all began by purchasing the Culver’s of Reedsburg in 2006. Since then, S&L has grown to more than 130 Culver’s franchises across soon-to-be ten states.
 
Today, their leadership remains rooted in hands-on experience, mentorship, and a commitment to doing things the right way – guided by a simple belief: brothers first, business partners second.
